By breakfast, most of the dream had gone. I could still see a long hallway and a bowl of oranges sitting on the floor, bright against everything else. I wrote those two things down before trying to explain them.
Keep the Clear Details
Dreams are slippery when I reach for a neat summary. A color, a room, or one strangely ordinary object often stays longer than the plot. I try to catch those pieces first, without asking them to make sense.
Leave Meaning Unfinished
I could decide the oranges meant something, but the dream didn’t come with a label. For now, I like that they are simply there: a small, vivid detail in a place where they didn’t belong. Maybe another memory will change how I read it later.
A Note for Later
When I write down a dream, I leave space beneath it. Sometimes a second detail returns in the afternoon; sometimes nothing else comes back. Either way, the first version is worth keeping, even if all I have is a hallway and a bowl of oranges.
